My father was a family doctor, but he was so much more than just a doctor to his patients. He also was a life counselor for their life problems, which often led them to seek out his medical opinion. I believe he relished this role, and I am beginning to see what he felt.  When my mother told me my father used to coach and life counsel his patients in their marriages, help them through divorces, support them to get off drugs, and even give advice on raising children, I never dreamed I would be in the same situation.

I find, more and more, that many plastic surgery patients are looking for life counseling and coaching. The reality is that we all need life counseling. We all need to have a friend that is objective, wise, and knows the world. We need a coach who can give us good advice when we are confused and unsure of ourselves. I will not shy away from this role.

Plastic surgery patients want to improve themselves. When life has been hard on us or we are feeling a bit lost, we often want to make a physical change to ourselves to point us in a new direction. Plastic surgery can not only improve our external appearance, it can do amazing things for our self confidence, our outlook on life and even our overall attitude.

I can’t tell you how many patients have used a breast reduction, a gynecomastia surgery, a tummy tuck, or a breast augmentation as a pendulum to swing into a new era in their life. I get cards and thank yous all the time from patients that thank me for listening, coaching and acting as their life coach to help them make the choice to change their lives and step into a new chapter of their life.

Like many people, I have been through many trials, both at work and at home. I’ve had struggles with college boyfriends, with friends, and of course family.  I know how to get through the many trials of life, and I want to help my patients do the same. I embrace my role providing life counseling to my plastic surgery patients. I’m confident that I can be that trusted friend and coach to help my patients achieve their life goals. That first step towards change is the hardest and I’m proud to be there to help my plastic surgery patients take the step.

If you are looking for a change, schedule a consult and let me help you take the next step in your life.
