Trizepatide Injection Patient Dosing And Counseling

How supplied:

Supplied in (4) prefilled syringes, based of prescribed dose. Alcohol swabs supplied.  USP allows a 45-day Beyond Use Date.

Compound: Tirzepatide Injection

Dosing:

Recommended dosing follows. Patient-specific titrations expected. Dosages will depend on each individual.

Start with 2.5mg for the first 4 weeks and titrate dosing after consultation with your prescriber.
Medication is administered once weekly, on the same day each week. Injections can be done at any time of the day, with or without meals.
Avoid double dosing to prevent unwanted side eƯects.
If a dose is missed, you can take the missed dose up to 5 days after you were originally supposed to take it. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and return to the original dosing schedule.

Subcutaneous Injection:

Wash your hands and prepare the injection site. Clean the injection site with the alcohol swab and let the skin dry.
Pinch the injection site to create a firm surface.
Alternate injection sites between either side of the stomach, back of the arm or thigh. Inject two inches from the belly button on either side.
Insert the needle into the skin between the index finger and thumb at 90 degrees.
Using a slow and constant pressure, push the plunger rod until it reaches the bottom.
Gently pull the syringe out of the skin.
Discard the needle in a sharps container.

Storage:

Keep Tirzepatide injections out of reach of children.
Once you receive it, store it in the refrigerator in between doses.

Common side effects:

Nausea – particularly at initiation and at an increase in dose. The nausea can be quite severe.
Recommend the ondansetron ODT that is often co-prescribed. Counsel on proper ondansetron dosing (30 min prior to dose increase and every 4–6 hours after as needed).

Constipation – very common on this drug. Increase fiber and water intake. Also consider an OTC stool softener or Miralax if constipation persists.
