Palomar Starlux Pulsed Light Hair Removal System

Before                             After

The Palomar pulsed light system uses a new technology that removes unwanted hair up to 10 times faster than lasers. The light systems work by emitting pulses of intense lamplight into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What body areas can be treated?

All areas of the body can be treated, except around the eyes.

What are the treatment sessions like?

Fast and easy. After the initial consultation, your treatment will begin. The handpiece applicator emits a light that disables the hair follicles, and most patients perceive the light as a gentle “snapping” sensation.

What should I expect following treatment?

Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary. Your treatment provider will explain other, less likely side effects to you.

What are hair growth cycles?

Not all hairs are actively growing at the same time – they actually go through distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. The duration of each phase is dependent on several factors, including the location of the hairs on the body. At any one time, 90% of the hairs on our heads are in the growth (anagen) phase, compared to only 70% of the hair on our arms. Pulsed light treatments are most effective during the anagen phase.
