Susan Mowry, R.N. is our skin clinic nurse-aesthetician, injector specialist and laser technician. She is a registered nurse with degrees from Community College of Allegheny County and South Hills Beauty Academy, and has 15 years of experience leading our skin care clinic. She continues her Aesthetic education by attending yearly advanced skin care seminars. Susan maintains a membership with The Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists, which keeps her active in the medical aspects of skin care as well as maintaining certifications in various Dermal Fillers and Botox injections. All of the skin care treatments Susan performs are under the supervision of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons.

BioMedic® micropeels are effective for all skin types including environmentally damaged, hyperpigmented, hypersensitive, acne prone and active acne skin. BioMedic mircopeels improve clarity, texture and even out skin tone. Many patients find that they no longer need cosmetic foundation.

The first step is a dermaplaning process which frees the skin of dead cellular layers and proteins by reducing the top layer of skin which lessens the appearance of fine lines and brown spots. A change in skin texture can be felt right away by brushing your hands across your cheeks. Depending on skin sensitivity, lactic or glycolic acid solution is applied. This solution will stay on the skin for at least 15 seconds but no more than 3 minutes. A slight stinging sensation may be felt but is only momentary and quite normal. This part of the micropeel frees impacted debris from the pores.

The LHA Peel is an exclusive molecule to La Roche-Posay that has proven its efficacy in the treatment of hyperpigmented (brown spots), skin imperfections, skin aging and cellular renewal.  The at-home treatment products are used for two weeks before your first peel session as well as in-between each session.

After being given a skin evaluation by the Aesthetician, a clinical home skin care regime for your skin type will be recommended. These products will improve superficial scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, smooth texture, and refine skin tone. Daily use of the products, prescribed by Susan, will continue the process of improvement. They are easy to use and very affordable.

Questions about Peels

How often would I have to have this treatment and which peel is best for my skin type?
This will be determined during your consultation with the Aesthetician and is based upon the condition of your skin. More frequent treatments may produce more dramatic results.

How will I look after the first treatment?
Unlike a facial, most people will notice a change in their skin right away. You may be pink for 2 - 24 hours depending on the type of peel used. You can apply makeup immediately following the procedure.
